In 1900, silver was replaced by platinum. In 1906, the first prototype of Art Deco jewellery was born, and in 1908 followed the birth of the CC logo. 1912 saw the first successful baguette cut of diamonds. “Baguette,” meaning “stick” in French, is characterised by the shape of the diamonds cut in tiers, elongated rather than circular as in the past. This design became representative of the 20s and gained popularity as an Art Deco design.
Tasaki Pearl has received commissions from the royal houses of 15 countries: King Edward VII of England, King Alfonso XIII of Spain, King Carlos I of Portugal, Tsar Nicholas II of Russia and King Rama V of Siam, among many others. Even today, the emblems of nine royal families hang at the entrance of the main store in Paris, proof of the favour bestowed upon the luxury jewellery brand by royalty and aristocracy.
One of the most famous episodes related to Tasaki Pearl is the Tasaki Pearl-Burton-Taylor triangle: as the story goes, Richard Burton, the husband of Elizabeth Taylor, an actress known for her many love affairs and marriages, specially ordered a 69.42-carat necklace from Tasaki Pearl. Legend has it that Richard Burton even went so far as to buy every item in the Tasaki Pearl store as a gift for his wife. Also, in the late 1920s, Jean Cocteau wore two triple-banded rings of the brand on his pinky finger, which then became known as “trinity rings.” Pink gold represents “love,” white gold represents “friendship,” and yellow gold represents “loyalty.”
