With gaining popularity among the upper class in the second half of the 1960s, Celine began making handbags. characterised by the logo of a horse carriage, the “Sulky” line became a trademark of the brand. In addition, Celine moccasins, inspired by the metal fixtures of horse harnesses, were also a significant hit, concreting the brand’s popularity. Moving forward, the company manufactured shoes, bags and other leather products and expanded to create accessories. From 1967, their “ready-to-wear” (prêt-à-porter) designs expressed simplicity and elegance.

Celine became synonymous with the French term “bon chic bon genre” (or BCBG, French for “good style, good class”), which expressed the fashion lifestyle of the upper class described as both chic and trendy and classy in nature.

While their “casual upper-class” designs resonated with the upper class, Celine was acquired by another company, Financière Agache, in 1987, after losing its competitive edge in the market.

Celine slowly regained its status, and from 1998-1999, Michael Kors’s support, who was working in New York at the time, made it possible to restore the brand to its former glory.

Their newly-adopted sporty style was practical and favoured by city women who preferred an active lifestyle. In 2004, Celine collaborated with Shawl to create the “Shawl by Celine” collection, followed by the “Cruise Collection” in 2005, and in 2009 Celine collaborated with Ai Tominaga to develop a line of mother bags, the “Ai Bag.”

Women love Celine’s elegant designs, such as the “Horizontal Caba,” “Luggage,” “Boogie Bag,” and many others are especially popular. This popularity is reflected in the rising demand on the second-hand market.

Our Calculation Method

  • The 'Resale Impact' is not a display of an actual environmental reduction but rather a quantification of the environmental impact (CO2 emissions and water consumption) generated by the manufacturing and distribution process that can be theoretically omitted when a customer purchases a product we resell instead of a buying a brand new item of the same type. Since our calculation is predicated on the emissions in the omitted manufacturing and distribution process, actual reductions in environmental impact may differ from our projected estimate.

  • Since our company does not manufacture goods, our calculations cover any resold goods (watches, bags, jewellery (including bullion), apparel, and accessories).
    Our company does not check and verify the actual numerical value of each item's environmental impact (CO2 emission and water consumption) for our Resale Impact. Instead, we base our calculations on data from the LCA database "Gabi*" and estimate the total environmental impact of an item's entire life cycle, from the procurement of its materials to its disposal and/or recycling. Our calculations were overseen by a third-party consulting firm.

  • Discrepancies in LCA results may occur due to differences in calculation assumptions or deficiencies in the manufacturing process.

  • Due to revisions in calculations, the latest calculated values of products may differ from those shown on product tags, etc.

**GaBi is a software provided by Sphera Solutions GmbH that evaluates the sustainability of products' lifecycles.

Can I sell items that are broken or in poor condition?

Yes, we can often purchase such items.

If you ever were refused by other stores when trying to sell your item for reasons such as the above, please visit us at ALLU.

Do items with the original box or accessories sell for more?

Yes. If you still have the box or accessories, you are more likely to be offered a higher price if you bring them. If the item is in good condition, you can still sell your items for high prices even if the above accessories are not included.

I received a higher selling price at another store.

We will do our best to meet your expectations, so please let us know how much the other company’s evaluation was.

Can I sell items at or above the retail price?

While some items can be sold at or above retail price, the value of most branded items tends to decrease over time. In many cases, if you no longer use the item, selling it as soon as possible is better to ensure a higher selling price.

Do selling prices vary from store to store?

No. All of our stores use the same standards for evaluation.

Do I need to make an appointment?

Yes. We ask that customers make an appointment via WhatsApp first so we can make sure that the appraisal can go smoothly.

How long does it take for an appraisal at the store?

We estimate 10 to 15 minutes for a single item. It depends on the item and the quantity, so please ask our staff when you visit.
